Wireless Microphones for Musicals
If you want to have a great sounding production for your high school musical, you should invest in a wireless microphone rental. For a small investment, you can use the same type of system used by the professionals on Broadway.
If you have tried wireless in the past and have had a bad experience, there are a few things to look for in your next rental system.
- Wireless microphone systems operate within a certain frequency range. Each manufacturer will select a certain range for their equipment to work in. Some of the less expensive models utilize a single frequency. If there is another piece of equipment near your theater that also uses this frequency, you will get noise, dropouts or simply bad sound. There is nothing that you can really do about this with the entry level systems.
- The next level of wireless systems use a certain number of channels. This allows you to select between 2 and 16 different fixed frequencies. More expensive units will be on the 16 channel side, less expensive on the 2 channel range. If you are only using one or two microphones, this is generally fine. In almost every situation, you can find two good channels to operate on in any building.
- Once you get to the point where you are going to be using over 5 units simultaneously, you need to have a professional system that allows hundreds or thousands of different frequency choices to be selected for the different units. This is the only type of system that we rent out – so rest assured that our systems will operate perfectly for your live production!
